Essential Home Plans — Your Home Is Still Protected
Whole-Home Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Protection

Your home is still protected.
Even if your original provider isn't.

You may notice the "Essential Home" name or "EHP" on your statement or account communications. This reflects the transition of your plan to our administration.

Whether your contractor retired, your provider stopped servicing your equipment, or your agreement was transferred to us, nothing about your coverage has changed. Only the name on the other end of the phone.

The plain answer

Why am I seeing Essential Home Plans?

You may see a monthly charge because your home protection agreement was transferred to us, or because we're now responsible for servicing your heating, cooling, or plumbing equipment.

That can happen for a few ordinary reasons: your original provider stopped servicing your equipment, your contractor handed off their service obligations, your agreement was assigned to us, or your previous provider left the market.

However it happened, our responsibility is the same — keeping your home's essential systems protected, so a breakdown doesn't turn into a bill you didn't see coming.

Our job is simple.

  • Keep your heating, cooling, and plumbing equipment protected.
  • Coordinate covered repairs with qualified, licensed contractors.
  • Provide ongoing protection for eligible equipment.
  • Help you avoid unexpected repair costs.
  • Deliver reliable service through our nationwide network.
How it works

Your coverage follows your equipment, not the company.

When you first signed up, you were promised that someone would service your equipment for the life of the agreement. That promise is tied to the equipment in your home — it doesn't disappear when the original company does. Here's how it reaches us.

Step 01

The agreement transfers.

We take on the servicing rights and obligations from your original provider, exactly as they were written — same coverage, same terms.

Step 02

You're notified.

You may receive a letter or email, or first notice us on your statement. Either way, there's nothing new to sign and nothing you need to do.

Step 03

We service your home.

From then on, when something goes wrong you call one number. We dispatch a vetted, licensed technician from our Canadian network.

Not sure whether your contract is with us? Call with the model and serial number from your equipment — it's usually on the front panel or inside the access door — and we'll confirm on the spot.

Common questions

The questions homeowners ask first.

Straight answers to the things people worry about most when a new name shows up on their bill.

I never agreed to this transfer. Is it legal?

Yes. Service obligations attached to protection agreements can transfer with the agreement itself — much like a mortgage can move from one lender to another. The terms of your protection don't change, and you keep every right your original agreement gave you.

Will my monthly payment change?

No. We honour the price, term, and coverage as written in your original agreement. If you'd like to review your plan or explore other options, we're happy to walk through them with you — but nothing changes automatically.

Do I have to use your contractors?

For covered repairs, yes — the same way you'd have used your original provider's network. Ours is national, vetted, licensed, and insured, and most homeowners find the response time faster than what they were used to.

My old provider is still around but stopped responding. What now?

Call us with your model and serial number. If your agreement is in our records, we can confirm right away. If it isn't, we'll help you find who's responsible — and if no one is, we'll tell you that honestly.

What happens when my equipment finally fails for good?

We service it as long as your agreement requires. When replacement is genuinely the better answer, we'll say so plainly and can quote it on transparent terms — or you're free to use any installer you choose.
